Olivia Akena advises leaders at the intersection of media, politics, and public affairs, bringing frontline experience from some of the most fast-paced communications environments in the country. As a Senior Communications Consultant at Texture Communications, she supports clients with strategic communications, media relations, and issues management, helping them navigate complex and high-stakes moments with confidence.

Olivia’s background spans provincial politics, federal campaigns, and public affairs consulting. Most recently, she served as a media relations officer and press secretary with the Ontario NDP Caucus, where she led daily media strategy, rapid response, and message development for the Official Opposition. She has worked closely with senior leaders to shape positioning, draft press materials and briefing notes, and deliver coordinated outreach that drives results.

Earlier in her career, Olivia worked at one of the leading public affairs and government relations firms, where she advised clients on government relations, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications. She also served as a press secretary on the 2025 federal NDP election campaign, contributing to national communications and message development, and began her career on Parliament Hill in the office of MP Peter Julian. 

Olivia holds a degree in International Development and Law from the University of Ottawa and is known for her speed, judgment, and ability to translate complex issues into communications that resonate.
